In total 38 sponsors took part in the survey, and we will look to repeat this again early in 2026.

Speaking of Sponsors, we currently have 285 pupils who are sponsored, and it would be fantastic if we could get to 300 for the first time!

Here are 18 girls who are all in need of sponsor support; if you know anybody who would like to become a sponsor please share this newsletter with them so that they can see the results of our Sposnor’s Survey, and hopefully complete an expression of interest form by clicking here.

March Fundraiser – Live Music River Cruise in York

On Friday 7th March, one of our Trustees, Mark, held a live music fundraiser aboard the River Prince, a private hire party vessel operated by City Cruises on the River Ouse in York. Around 70 guests attended and they were treated to an evening of amazing live music!

We give our thanks to City Cruises for hosting this event for us, and to Jasmine Lowe, Phil Goodrick and Andy Stones who were the three artists who performed for us.

Through a combination of revenue from ticket sales and raffle ticket sales, a total of £1,500 was raised, meaning that 10 of our pupils have now been sponsored for a full year from these proceeds!

County Athletics Update

These four Primary pupils reached the County athletics at the end of last term, Rai Tsuma, Zainab Ali, Mdune Tayo, Isaya Rai.

Rai in shot put and discus, Zainab in shot put and discus
Mdune in 4x400m, and Isaya in Walking Race.

All did really well but sadly didn’t progress to the nationals.
All 4 are sponsored, and it also shows the benefit of us purchasing real shot put and discus for them training.

Well done Rai, Zainab, Mdune and Isaya!

Solar Power Update

Some major work has been completed using a £3,500 grant that we received to invest in solar power. All of the lighting in these next photos are solar powered!

High School Boarding Update

Building work on the new block that will provide boarding facilities for the female pupils at our High School is complete and they are now in the process of moving in!

High School Toilets Update

Our toilet block at High School is now in desperate need of replacing. Strong winds have ripped the roof off, which we can repair temporarily, but we need to build a bigger toilet block as the number of High School pupils increases…

2025 Coast2Coast Fundraiser

Our Trustee Mark will once again be undertaking a sponsored Coast2Coast ride this year, with 4 friends joining him to cycle 150 miles from Morecambe to Bridlington in 3 days, from June 27th to June 29th.

This will be Mark’s 5th Coast2Coast for Future of Taru, and he is being joined by 4 other riders who have all taken part in previous rides; Gary and Stu who are both taking part for the 2nd time, Steve who is taking part for the 4th time, and Kev who will also be partaking in his 5th ride for us!

They are aiming to raise £3,000 which we will use to help fund the new toilet block for the High School. If you would like to sponsor them, you can do so by clicking here (and please remember to select the Gift Aid option if you are eligible!)

And that’s all for our latest update from the Future of Taru. As always, thank you to you all for your incredible support! To share this newsletter with your friends and families, use the buttons below!
