Having decided to sponsor a child my husband & I were looking at organisations worldwide. It was by shear chance that we saw an article in the local paper about Paul & Eunice Moffat setting up the academy in Taru. ( Cumberland News, October 2019).
That convinced us – their enthusiasm, motivation and commitment shone through and after an email to Paul and a telephone conversation we awaited news of a child to sponsor. In January 2020 we started to sponsor a little girl whose mother was in desperate need of help. Not only has our sponsorship helped to keep her family together but our adorable little girl now has food provided at school, a school uniform, shoes and an education, something we can so easily take for granted.
Following the progress of the Academy has been very exciting. The building is coming on well and the thrill when fresh running water was provided for the children was lovely to see. The effort of the staff to reach the children during the CV lockdown has been very reassuring: checking on their well being, delivering food and other essentials. It is their commitment, along with Paul & Eunice understanding of this particular community, that gives us hope for a settled and successful ‘Future of Taru’.
I would not hesitate to recommend sponsoring a child or sending a much needed donation. Paul & Eunice have very kindly sent me photographs and already the bewildered little girl we saw back in January has a smile in her eyes. That smile makes it all worthwhile. Her general well being is now more secure and I hope her future shows promise.
